Lone worker protection

Lone worker protection that never lapses

Safety on Glix is not a paid add-on and it does not switch off. It is on every plan and it survives every billing state, including a failed payment, because a billing problem should never become a safety problem.

SIA ACS expects documented welfare arrangements for lone guards, and HSE duty of care applies to every employer of lone workers. Most platforms sell that protection as an upgrade.

What changes

What this gives your operation

Evidence your welfare arrangements

Check-in schedules, escalation ladders and the full incident trail give you records to show a client, an auditor or an inspector.

Escalate without waiting for someone to notice

A missed check-in or an SOS moves through named responders automatically, with an SMS rung you control per location.

Give responders something to act on

Every incident carries a last-known location, and duty managers can see live location during active shifts.

How it runs

The workflow, start to finish

  1. A worker starts a lone-working session at the location.
  2. A check-in is missed, or the worker raises SOS or a silent duress alarm.
  3. Glix escalates through named responders, adding the SMS rung where configured.
  4. Responders see the last-known location, and the incident record holds the full trail.

Questions

Common lone worker protection questions

Is Glix an alarm receiving centre?

No. Glix is not an emergency service, an alarm receiving centre or a response provider. It supports your own welfare procedures and escalates to the responders you nominate. In an emergency, always call 999.

Does lone worker protection cost extra?

No. SOS, duress, check-ins, escalation, SMS alerts and last-known location are included on every plan, including the entry tier.

What happens if our payment fails?

The account moves to a read-only grace state and lone worker protection keeps running. We designed it that way deliberately.

What happens when a check-in is missed?

The missed check-in escalates on its own. It moves through the responders you have named, adding the SMS rung where you have configured one for that location, so nobody has to be watching a screen for it to be noticed.

Who receives an SOS or duress alert?

The responders you nominate for that location, in the order you set. Alerts reach responders on mobile, and from Pro upwards they also reach office-based managers in the web app.

Can managers see where a worker is when they are not on shift?

No. Live worker location is visible to duty managers during an active shift only, and it is available from Pro upwards. Outside a shift the only location held is the last-known location attached to an incident.
